Heart of New Ulm Summit

October 28, 2008

The Heart of New Ulm Summit attracted over 400 people on October 28. People learned more about the Heart of New Ulm Project which aims at reducing and eventually eliminate heart attacks in the community of New Ulm, Minnesota, through identifying health risks, tracking the health of the population and providing early interventions to improve health and reduce heart disease. The evening's keynote speaker was Dan Buettner, the author of the best seller THE BLUE ZONES: Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who've Lived the Longest, published by National Geographic Books. Buettner's excellent presentation incorporated National Geographic images that took the audience into the world's four Blue Zones, told stories and instructed the community how to get more life from your years and more years from your life. The presentation ended with a simple formula that shared how you could add up to eight good years to your life.
