You know well that some people try popular fad diets time and again. After they lose some weight, they gain it all back.

However, there are also people who succeed in losing weight and keeping it off. Whether following some type of formal program or doing it on your own, there are some common strategies that these successful people use. They include:
· Eating breakfast most days of the week
· Weighing themselves regularly, preferably once a week
· Watching less than 10 hours of TV a week
· Exercising, on average, about one hour each day (walking is the most popular activity)
· Following a lower-calorie and lower-fat eating plan 
Consistency is key
Remember that what you do consistently is what ultimately affects your health and weight. It's not that random day of laziness when you don't go for your usual walk that makes or breaks your weight management efforts. In truth, it is what you do every day as part of your routine that makes you succeed or fail in your weight management efforts.

Do what works for you. You are who you are and no one else is like you. What works for you is certainly different than what works for other people. Life is a trial-and-error journey, so the goal is to try different approaches and narrow down the ones that work best for you. Repeat what works most of the time; adapt what doesn't seem to work.
